BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb volleyball team dropped a three-set decision to visiting High Point in Big South Conference action on Saturday afternoon inside Paul Porter Arena.
Gardner-Webb (2-16, 0-7 Big South) fell to High Point (14-9, 6-1 Big South) by scores of 25-14, 25-14, and 25-19. The Runnin' Bulldogs totaled 24 kills on 101 attempts for a .059 attacking percentage, while the Panthers had 44 kills on 100 swings, attacking at a .330 rate.
Elizabeth Griffith led GWU with six kills on 19 swings, while
Abbey Sprinkle provided a team-high 10 assists.
Charissa Coleman had 14 digs to lead the Runnin' Bulldogs, while Griffith and
Alexandria Roycraft each had two total blocks to lead that effort.
HPU was led on the attack by Megan Kratzer, who tallied 16 smashes on 28 swings, and Jenna Smith added 15 assists to lead the Panthers.
Abby Bottomley had a match-high 15 digs, while Kaley Rammelsberg led High Point on the block with five total blocks.
Gardner-Webb opens a four-match road swing next weekend, taking on Charleston Southern on Friday, October 25 at 6:00 pm in Charleston, S.C.
