Gardner-Webb Swimming Opens 2019-20 Season Saturday Afternoon

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb men's and women's swimming teams open the 2019-20 season on Saturday afternoon, taking on Campbell and Old Dominion in a tri-meet at 12:00 pm in Buies Creek, N.C.
Gardner-Webb returns 34 swimmers from last season, including nine seniors. Seniors on the women's team include Charity Bennett, Blake Broullire, Jennifer Jackson, Spencer Lucas, Cary Pou, and Lindsey Wright, while the men's squad seniors are Zach Dingfield, Jordan Mintz, and Dowdy Sarvis.
GWU also returns nine Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) All-Conference performers from last season in Tim Bennett, Seggio Bernardina, Zach Dingfield, Brady Fields, Chase Mattingly, Drew Mintz, Jordan Mintz, John O'Connell and Dowdy Sarvis. Bennett was named the 2018-19 CCSA Men's Swimmer of the Year and was also named the 2019 CCSA Championships Men's Most Outstanding Freshman Performer.
Following Saturday's meet, the women's team will host UNC Asheville on Friday, November 8 and both squads will return to action on Friday, November 22 at the Fall Frenzy Invite in Charlotte, N.C.
