Molly Johnston had a match-high 12 kills, yet the Gardner-Webb volleyball team would drop a straight-set decision at Winthrop in the final match of the 2019 season.
Gardner-Webb (3-22, 1-13 Big South) fell to Big South Conference regular season champion Winthrop (22-4, 14-0 Big South) by scores of 25-19, 25-23, and 25-22. The Runnin' Bulldogs totaled 41 kills on 109 swings for a .193 attack percentage, while the Eagles tallied 38 smashes on 108 attempts, attacking at a .250 clip.
Johnston led all attackers with 12 kills on the night.
Lauryn Rocassin dished out a team-high 12 assists.
Charissa Coleman paced the 'Dogs with 15 digs, while
Hannah Donaldson had two total blocks to lead that effort.
Winthrop was led on the attach by Jace Kleffner and Sydney Gunter, who each had nine kills on the night. Siani Yamaguchi provided a match-best 29 assists.
Hannah Lackey led the Eagles with nine digs, while Morgan Bossler led the way with five total blocks.
