Gardner-Webb Baseball To Host Inaugural First Pitch Celebration February 1st

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb baseball program will host its inaugural First Pitch Celebration on February 1st, featuring a Q&A session with Atlanta Braves pitcher Jeremy Walker.

The event is set for Saturday, February 1st at 7:00 pm inside the Tucker Student Center, with a cost of $30, which includes heavy appetizers and drink.

The evening will include the introduction of the introduction of the 2020 Gardner-Webb baseball roster and coaching staff, and will also feature a Q&A session with GWU alum and current Atlanta Braves pitcher Jeremy Walker.

Walker played for the Runnin’ Bulldogs from 2014-16, starting 30 games on the mound with 14 wins and 155 strikeouts in 181.0 innings, forging a 4.23 ERA.

Drafted by the Braves in the fifth round of the 2016 MLB Draft, Walker was called up to Atlanta for the first time in his professional baseball career on July 24, 2019 and made his major league debut on July 26, tossing a scoreless frame against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Walker made a total of six trips to the mound for the Braves in 2019, hurling 9.1 innings with six strikeouts and a 1.93 ERA.
