Gardner-Webb Falls To No. 11 Denver, 20-2, Friday Afternoon In Lacrosse Action

BOILING SPRINGS – No. 11 Denver lived up to its national ranking Friday afternoon, beating Gardner-Webb 20-2 in Ernest W. Spangler Stadium.
The Pioneers (4-1) took a 15-0 lead into the halftime locker room, scoring the first nine goals of the day in just under 10 minutes.
The lead stretched to 19-0 before Gardner-Webb (3-4) found the net, with Tori Birks scoring off a free position with 15:08 remaining in the game. Eilish Gately scored on a nice move for Gardner-Webb with 11:09 left to trim the lead to the final margin.
Denver held a 36-8 shooting edge, including a 25-4 mark in the first 30 minutes. 10 different Pioneers scored in the game, led by Quintin Hoch-Bullen's four goals and two assists.
Eliza Radochonski scored three times and assisted on three other goals, while Julia Feiss (two goals, three assists), Molly Little (two goals), Elizabeth Behrins (two goals) and Kayla DeRose (two goals) also scored multiple times in the game.
Gardner-Webb was led by Birks and Gately offensively. Talen Francis contributed four ground balls to lead the 'Dogs, while Monique Martin had three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will be back in action quickly, hosting Howard at 11:00 am Sunday for Senior Day in Spangler Stadium.
