Gardner-Webb Lacrosse Announces Incoming Freshman Class of 2019

BOILING SPRINGS – Gardner-Webb head women's lacrosse coach Jessie Aguglia announced a nine-person recruiting class for the Runnin' Bulldogs, with the group set to join GWU for the 2020 season.
The Runnin' Bulldogs added Taryn Brebnar (Goalie, Milton, Ga.), Grace Briggs (Defense, Waterford, Conn.), Lakota Comeau (Defense, Taneytown, Md.), Mackenzie Gallery (Midfield, Bel Air, Md.), Ryann Haly (Midfield, Roswell, Ga.), Amre Keyes (Attack, Port Tobbaco, Md.), Jayla Middlebrooks (Attack, Decatur, Ga.), Megan Trout (Midfield, Wilmington, N.C.), ) and Gabby Zerna (Attack, Raleigh N.C.).
"We are pleased with this group, which should add considerable depth to our 2020 roster," said Aguglia, who led Gardner-Webb to a program single-season record for wins in 2019. "We look forward to getting these young ladies on campus in August."
Brebnar played at Milton (Ga.) High and for the Eagle Stix Club team, leading her prep squad to the 2018 Class 7A Georgia state championship. She earned All-America honors from Under Armor (Team South) and Brine (Team Georgia) during her high school career.
Briggs played for Waterford (Conn.) High and the CT Dodgers Club and was an ECC Scholar Student-Athlete and honor roll student.
Comeau played at Francis Scott Key (Md.) High and for the Check-Hers Elite Club. She was highly decorated academically and earned honorable mention All-Conference honors on the field.
Gallery played at Harford (Md.) High and for Looney's Lacrosse Club, serving as a captain and earning second-team All-Division honors. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, among several other significant academic awards.
Haly played at Roswell (Ga.) High and teamed with Brebnar with the Eagle Stix Club. She helped Roswell to the second round of the state playoffs twice and was a member of the Principal's Honor Roll four times during her high school career.
Keyes played at North Point (Md.) High and for Uproar Lacrosse Club. She was a four-year starter in high school and a three-time team captain. She was also a three-time All-Conference selection.
Middlebrooks starred at Southwest DeKalb (Ga.) High and played for the Thunderbirds Lacrosse Club. She is an honor roll student and scored 55 goals for her prep program as a junior. She led Southwest DeKalb to its first ever playoff appearance as a senior and is a member of the Team Georgia National Team.
Trout played at Ashley (N.C.) High and for the Carolina Flight Club team, earning first-team All-Conference four times during her prep career. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and Beta Club academically.
Zerna played at St. Thomas More (N.C.) Academy and alongside Trout on the Carolina Flight Club squad. She was a team captain on the prep level and garnered several notable academic honors during her career.
