Natasha Akbarizadeh Named Big South Women’s Field Athlete of the Year

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Gardner-Webb redshirt senior Natasha Akbarizadeh was chosen as the 2019-19 Big South Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Year, announced today by the league office.
Akbarizadeh took home the women's hammer throw title at the 2019 Big South Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a mark of 63.92 meters, setting the Gardner-Webb all-time record for the event. That distance led all Big South competitors by 4.90 meters and ranks third all-time in Big South history.
She qualified for the 2019 NCAA Division I East Region Preliminary Rounds, where she placed 20th overall with a mark of 59.77 meters.
Throughout the regular season, Akabarizadeh placed no worse than fourth overall in each of the six events she took part in, including three first-place results.
