Peterson Named CSC Academic All-American, Eight Dawgs Land on Academic All-District Team

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - After posting one of the most outstanding seasons in Gardner-Webb track and field history, senior Quentin Peterson has been named a College Sports Communicators Third Team Academic All-American selection, along with eight Runnin' Bulldogs who received Academic All-District honors
Adding to a long list of accolades, Peterson is on both the CSC All-Distrct and Third Team-All America teams. Peterson competed at both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor National Championships this year, becoming only the second Runnin' Bulldogs thrower to ever compete in both in the same year. He received Second Team All-American honors in shot put at each to put a bow on one of the great Gardner-Webb athletic careers, in addition to two of the highest national finishes in program history. Peterson did all this on top of taking home the Men's Most Outstanding Performance Award and both the men's shot put and men's weight throw championships at the Big South Outdoor Championships each for the second consecutive year this spring, and all while posting a 3.93 GPA in the classroom
Also on the men's CSC Academic All-District Team, in addition to Peterson, were Jonathan Timpson and Robert Joseph Jr. Timpson was previously named Big South Indoor Men's Scholar Athlete of The Year for Gardner-Webb, posting a 3.91 GPA to go along with a top-25 regional ranking in the high jump. Joseph Jr. meanwhile finished with a 3.67 and a 26th best regional mark in weight throw
On the women's side, five Gardner-Webb athletes were named to the CSC All-District Team. Receiving recognition for both academic and athletic performance were Paige Boyd who posted a semester long 3.71 with an NCAA East Regional Championships appearance in the spring and a top-20 regional mark in high jump, Jada Pittman who finished with a 3.82 was 41st in the southeast region in long jump, Madison Boyd who finished with a 3.81 GPA and was 25th regionally in weight throw, Adrionna Coleman who posted a 3.79 GPA and was 32nd in the southeast region for shot put, as well as Isa van Sintemaartensdijk who held down a 3.98 GPA in the classroom and was 28th regionally in pentathlon
