June 28, 2019 | Baseball
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb baseball head coach Jim Chester announced the completion of his coaching staff, adding Wiley Jackson and Anthony Marks to his staff, while retaining the services of Connor Scarborough.
Jackson worked under Chester at Barton College for the 2019 season in which the Bulldogs finished 31-20 overall and second in the Conference Carolinas standings.
Prior to his time at Barton College, Jackson spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at East Carolina and also spent one summer as an assistant coach and assistant general manager for the Morehead City Marlins of the Coastal Plain League.
Jackson played collegiately at UNC Pembroke, serving as the team's captain for the 2016 season and was named to the Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll each season.
Marks was also a member of the Barton College coaching staff during the 2019 season.
Marks is familiar with the Big South Conference landscape, playing four years at Coastal Carolina University from 2013-16, and was the starting left fielder and leadoff batter for the 2016 NCAA Division I National Championship team.
While at Coastal Carolina, Marks was named to the 2016 College World Series All-Tournament team and earned First-Team All-Big South honors in 2015.
Scarborough remains as the team's pitching coach after recently completing his third season in that role.
