She earned All-State honors following her sophomore, junior and senior seasons.
Lawrence played for the Carolina Curve club team, which is under the direction of head coach David Wacaster.
"We are all very excited about McKenzie," stated Coach Cole. "She is a tremendous athlete who comes from a good family. I have been watching her play for several years, and every time I've seen her, she has improved. She is a talented player right now, and with her work ethic, there's no telling how good she will become."
Lawrence joins Ashlee Baker, Tristen Rainne-Horrell, Ansley Lee, Andrea Lyon, Jessica McRae, Molly Montgomery and Kaylee Nicholson as one of eight incoming student-athletes that will take the field for the Runnin' Bulldogs in 2020.
She is one of four incoming players to come from GWU from outside the state of North Carolina joining a list that includes Baker (Lincolnton, Ga.), Lyon (Columbia, SC) and Nicholson (Evans, Ga.).
