BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb volleyball team fell to visiting East Carolina in four sets on Friday evening inside Paul Porter Arena.
Gardner-Webb (1-9) fell to ECU (10-1) by scores of 25-8, 25-14, 24-26, and 25-10. The Runnin' Bulldogs totaled 27 kills on 111 swings for a .009 attack percentage, while the Pirates had 53 smashes on 120 swings, attacking at a .300 clip.
Hannah Donaldson collected eight kills on 15 attempts to lead the GWU attack.
Maya Jeffcoat-Troy followed with seven smashes.
Lauryn Rocassin led all players with 24 assists.
Rocassin also led the team with ten digs, while
Alexandria Roycraft had three solo blocks and two block assists to lead the 'Dogs.
East Carolina was led offensively by Natalie Tyson and Sydney Kleinman, who each had 10 kills. Shelby Martin had a team-best 20 assists.
Bri Wood led the Pirates with 13 digs, and Toya Osuegbu had four total blocks to lead that effort.
Gardner-Webb returns to action tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 pm, hosting Alabama A&M. The action can be seen on ESPN+.
