Gardner-Webb Softball Awarded Player of The Week Awards to Owen & Lyon

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb sophomore Autumn Owen (Mill Spring, N.C.) has been named the Big South Softball Player of the Week, and Andrea Lyon (West Columbia, S.C.) has been selected the Freshman of the Week by the Big South.
Owen helped the Runnin' Bulldogs to a 4-1 start with a .643 batting average, 11 RBI, four walks, three doubles, one triple and two home runs. In a 19-1 win over Maryland Eastern Shore, she recorded three hits and five RBI with two stolen bases. Owen then tallied three hits, three RBI and a home run in a 13-2 win against Canisius. Against UMES on Sunday, she had two hits with two RBI and a triple to help Gardner-Webb to a 9-1 victory.
Lyon opened her career with seven hits, a .467 batting average, seven RBI and two wins on the mound for the Runnin' Bulldogs. In a 19-1 win over Maryland-Eastern Shore, she recorded a home run and six RBI while pitching 4.2 innings with seven strikeouts. She then finished her week with 5.1 innings pitched with seven strikeouts to pick up her second win.
