BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb dropped a 20-6 decision to visiting Mercer Friday night in women's lacrosse action.
Mercer, coming off a loss to High Point, was able to go on a 9-0 scoring starting at the 9:58 mark in the first half that came to an end at the 14:52 mark in the second half.
Talen Francis created an opportunity and was able to score unassisted to halt the run.
The Runnin' Bulldogs had three different goal scorers in the game. Francis led the way with 4 goals while
Eilish Gately and
Tori Birks each scored a goal.
Three goals that were scored by the Runnin' Bulldogs were off assists, each player with one apiece. These players were
Liz Antoshak, Francis, and
Jada Preston.
Gardner-Webb's
Katie Sylvester finished the game with a total of thirteen saves.
It was a very physical match on both sides, with a combined one green card and seven yellow cards between the two teams.
Next up for the Runnin' Bulldogs (1-2) is a home game against Akron (0-1) on Sunday at noon.
