Andrea Lyon Named Softball Player of the Week by Big South

Boiling Springs, N.C.– Gardner-Webb freshman Andrea Lyon (West Columbia, S.C.) has been named the Big South Softball Player of the Week, for games played Feb. 10-16, the league announced today.
Lyon helped the Runnin' Bulldogs to five wins last week with a .400 batting average, three home runs, 10 RBI, three doubles and five runs scored while winning two games in three appearances in the circle. In a 3-0 win over Charlotte, she recorded two hits and three RBI with a home run while pitching a 4-hit complete game shutout with 11 strikeouts. Lyon had a hit in all seven contests and also tallied two home runs and five RBI in 12-4 win against Robert Morris.
Gardner-Webb is back in action next weekend, hosting the GWU Softball Tournament on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The 'Dogs begin action on Friday at 1:30 pm against Northern Kentucky in Brinkley Softball Stadium.
