Weslyn Almond Named Big South Softball Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Gardner-Webb junior Weslyn Almond has been named the Big South Conference Softball Player of the Week,.
Almond helped the Runnin' Bulldogs to three wins on the weekend, with a .588 batting average (10-for-17), seven RBI, six runs, five stolen bases, and a home run. In a 9-1 win over Howard, she recorded two hits, three RBI, and two runs. Almond then tallied four hits and two RBI in another victory against the Bison. Against Lafayette, she had two more hits with two RBI and home run to help the Runnin' Bulldogs claim a 7-5 victory. She concluded her week with her fourth multi-hit game with a 2-for-3 outing against Duke.
Gardner-Webb softball will be back in action March 11th on the road as they take on Big South opponent Campbell in doubleheader action at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. The games will be streamed live on ESPN+.
