May 14, 2020 | Softball
BOILING SPRINGS – Gardner-Webb's Brooke Perry was named first-team softball CoSIDA Academic All-District® III team Thursday afternoon.
Perry (Clemmons, N.C. / West Forsyth HS) carries a 3.85 cumulative GPA in elementary education. The team was voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
This past season, Perry led Gardner-Webb to a sizzling 24-5 start – the best in program history – while forging a strong 11-3 record herself inside the pitching circle. Perry posted a 1.75 ERA and fanned 104 batters in 88.0 innings of work. She went the distance nine times in 10 starts and tossed three shutouts. Perry also made five relief appearances.
Not limited to success as a pitcher, Perry also batted .319 with five home runs and 28 RBI in 29 games at the plate. She added 10 doubles.
The 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District teams were based more on career numbers than single-season numbers – with the 2020 season cut short in March. Through two seasons at Gardner-Webb, Perry has won 29 games in the circle to go with 330 strikeouts in 284.2 innings pitched. She has hit 12 home runs in two seasons to go with 74 runs batted in.
Perry will now be eligible for the 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot.
