
GWU Places Four on Big South Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field All-Decade Team

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Gardner-Webb outdoor track and field put four women on the Big South Conference All-Decade Team presented by Hercules Tires, as announced Monday afternoon by the league office.
Elise Moffatt (Kennesaw, Ga.), Ashlei Alexander (Queens, N.Y.), Natasha Akbarizadeh (Maple Ridge, British Columbia), and Kristen Hurley (Columbia, Conn.) represented the Runnin' Bulldogs on a team that features the best in the conference from 2010-2019.
A 15-person committee of Big South Conference administrators served as the official voting panel to determine the All-Decade Team, with fan voting comprising 20 percent of the overall total.
Moffatt competed for GWU from 2014-2017 and earned the Big South title in the pole vault twice and was a three-time All-Conference honoree. Her mark of 3.85 meters at the 2015 Big South Championships currently sits atop the program's record book.
Alexander, who was a thrower for the Runnin' Bulldogs from 2010-2013, earned All-Conference honors on five occasions, and was the shot put champion in 2011 with a mark of 13.88 meters.
Akbarizadeh competed for Gardner-Webb from 2015-2019, brought home a pair of hammer throw titles along with an additional All-Conference performance. Her mark of 63.92 meters in in the hammer throw at the 2019 Big South Championships set the GWU all-time record.
Hurley competed from 2011 to 2015 for GWU, earning All-Conference honors on all four occasions in the heptathlon.
The entire 2010-2019 Women's Outdoor Track & Field All-Decade Team is listed below in alphabetical order by event and features eight sprinters/hurdlers, eight distance/mid-distance runners, eight jumpers, eight throwers, two heptathletes and one head coach. In case of ties, additional honorees have been added.
