Captains Announced for the 2021 Women's Lacrosse Season

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb women's lacrosse announced the team captains for the 2021 season on Tuesday afternoon as the season opener on February 12th quickly approaches.
Graduate Janice Donaldson (Cincinnati, Ohio), redshirt junior Tori Birks (Sterling, Va.), senior Eilish Gately (Baltimore, Md.) and junior Jessica Vetter (Elliott City, Md.) were named as the players to serve as captains for the season.
In addition to 50 groundballs and 23 caused turnovers through the first four seasons in her career, the Ohio native was named to the 2021 Preseason All-Big South Conference Team on Tuesday. Donaldson has played in 44 games during her career and served as a captain during the 2020 season.
Birks has been responsible for 26 points through the first three seasons of her career. Of those points, 18 have been goals scored and eight were assists. Won 64 draw controls, caused 10 turnovers, and had 26 groundballs.
Gately has tallied 55 goals during her career while dishing 11 assists. The Maryland native has scored three game-winning goals, one in each season. Set her career highs for goals scored in 2018 at Presbyterian (4/18) with four. She matched her career high in 2020 at VCU (3/11) which included the game-winning goal that gave the team the victory to mark the first four-game win streak in program history. Gately also served as a captain during the 2020 season.
Vetter started in all 23 games she has played in through the halfway point in her career. She has tallied 26 points and scored 21 goals. Through her first two season, she has racked up 30 groundballs.
Gardner-Webb starts their season inside Spangler Stadium on February 21st vs Kennesaw State at 3:00 p.m.
