BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb men's soccer team took a trip up the creek to face conference foe Campbell University on Wednesday evening at Eakes Athletics Complex. The Camels beat the Runnin' Bulldogs with a final score of 6-1, Campbell.
Five different Camels scored their six goals throughout the night, Gerard Broussard found the net in the 5
th and 73
rd minutes, George Bediko scored in the 46
th minute, Kemy Amiche netted one in the 57
th minute, Jake Morris pushed one through in the 82
nd minute, and Bjarne Lips sealed the Campbell victory in the 88
th minute.
The Red and Black were able to put one on the board, as
Aymane Sordo scored his first goal of the season in the 22
nd minute of match play.
In a feisty evening of action, a single red card was issued in the game, as
Samuel Ritner was carded in the 82nd minute of tonight's match.
Campbell paced the night in shots with 27, and Gardner-Webb took just six. In total, 11 corner kick opportunities were taken throughout the night, GWU having one, and CU taking the remaining ten. The 'Dogs fouled 12 times, while the Camels fouled just two less.
GWU will be back in action next Wednesday, October 13
th, as it takes on UNC Asheville at Greene-Harbison Stadium. The game is slated to start at 6 pm and will stream on ESPN+.
