STATESBORO, Ga. - Gardner-Webb went on a 14-0 scoring surge in the fourth quarter to narrow down Georgia Southern's lead to just 10 points, but in the remaining minute of play the Eagles laid down six points with a trio of three-throws and a three-pointer to end the game with a final score of 121-105, Georgia Southern.

The Runnin' Bulldogs shot 59.7% (37-for-62) in field-goal range, 45.5% (10-for-22) from beyond the arc, and 67.7% (21-for-31) at the free-throw line. GWU capitalized on 44 points in the paint and 20 fast break points.

The Eagles shot 57.3% (43-for-75) from the field, 56.0% (14-for-25) from three-point range, and 70.0% (21-for-30) at the free-throw line. Georgia Southern scored 47 points off of the bench and 50 points in the paint throughout the game.

Today's game was one for the record books, as 105 points is a new second best all-time program record for most points scored in a single game. When it comes to combined points in a single game, 226 is a new program record for the largest combined point total in a single game in program history.

The 'Dogs were led by Jhessyka Williams, who put up a career-high of 38 points (15-23 FG, 8-14 FT) and 12 rebounds (third double-double of the season and fifth career double-double). Williams etched her name in the Gardner-Webb history books today, as she became the 25th player in program history to join the 1,000-point club. On top of that Williams earned two top spots in GWU history, as she now holds the most points scored in a single game record (38), and the record for most field goals made (15).

Lauren Bevis hit a new career-high of 33 points (10-13 FG, 6-9 3PT, and 7-7 FT) today against the Eagles, which is a new top-two all-time record for most points scored in a single game. Bevis also grabbed four rebounds and had one assist at Statesboro.

The 'Dogs will return home to Paul Porter Arena on Saturday, December 18 for their final home contest of the month, taking on Austin Peay State University at 3 p.m. The action will stream on ESPN+.

Next Saturday's home matchup will feature a special partnership with Feeding Kids Cleveland County, the organization will be collecting donations of non-perishable food items at the game.
