BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - Gardner-Webb women's basketball took off on a 15-0 run with 5:43 left in the fourth period to narrow down Austin Peay State University's lead to just six points. However, the Govs' set themselves up on a 5-0 run to defeat the 'Dogs on their home court with a final score of 73-62, Austin Peay.

The Runnin' Bulldogs shot 28.4% (19-for-67) from the floor, 25.0% (7-for-28) from deep, and 77.3% (17-for-22) at the free-throw line. In tonight's game, GWU capitalized off of 24 bench points and 22 points scored in the paint.

The Governors shot 44.4% (28-for-63) in field-goal range, 33.3% (4-for-12) from beyond the arc, and 65.0% (13-for-20) at the free-throw line. Despite only having nine active players in today's contest, the visitors scored 36 points off of the bench and 46 total points in the paint.

GWU's offensive front was led by junior transfer L'Mia Littlejohn, as she put up a career-high 14 points (4-10 FG, 3-F 3FG, 3-4 FT). Littlejohn also contributed one steal and a single rebound in today's contest.

Alasia Smith recorded a career-high 19 rebounds (5 offensive, 14 defensive) against the Governors. Smith's career-high is a new top fourth all-time program record for rebounds in a single game and top three all-time program record for most defensive rebounds in a single game.

As for the Govs', Yamia Johnson led her visiting squad with 25 points (9-15 FG, 3-3 3FG, 4-5 FT) and nine rebounds before fouling out of the game with Williams on a double-technical foul handed out by the referees.
