Men's Soccer Takes Loss To UNCG In Home Opener

Boiling Springs, N.C. – On Wednesday night, Gardner-Webb men's soccer dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting UNCG in non-conference action at Greene-Harbison Stadium.
 
In the match, the Spartans took an early lead by scoring just before the seventh minute in the game. Gardner-Webb was unable to respond at all in the first half of action. In the second half, GWU allowed two more goals to seal the win for UNCG. 
 
The Spartans took a total of ten shots tonight, with seven of those shots on goal. As the 'Dogs were only able to take two shots in the night, with neither of the pair being on goal.
 
The match was physical throughout, with 18 fouls and seven yellow cards being issued throughout the 90 minues of play.
 
Between the posts, Mallel Rios had one save in the fourty-five minutes that he saw. Fellow teammate Daniel Husa was put in after the half and had three saves in the game.  
 
Gardner-Webb men's soccer will be back in action on Sunday, Februrary 28th at Greene-Harbison Stadium as they take on Big South Conference opponent Radford at 4:00 PM.
