ATHENS, Ga. – No. 7 Georgia totaled 19 base hits on the afternoon to go on to hand Gardner-Webb a 17-3 loss in Sunday's series finale at Foley Field.
Gardner-Webb (1-5) fell behind early as Georgia (7-1) scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the second on a two-run home run by Garrett Blaylock.
The Runnin' Bulldogs trimmed the deficit to 2-1 in the top of the third as
Mitch McLendon belted a solo blast to right field, his first home run of the season.
The home Bulldogs tacked on another pair of runs in the bottom of the third, scoring on a RBI double by Buddy Floyd and RBI single by Connor Tate.
GWU scored once again in the top of the fourth on a RBI double to center field by
Patrick Ferguson that plated
Keiji Parkhurst, making the score 4-2.
Georgia seized control of the contest in the bottom of the fifth as Josh McAllister and Chaney Rogers each had solo home runs, along with a RBI hit by Tate, making the score 7-2.
Georgia went on to score five runs in the sixth, four runs in the seventh, and one run in the eighth.
Gardner-Webb scored once more in the seventh as McLendon was able to cross home plate on a passed ball.
The Runnin' Bulldogs totaled nine base hits on the day, with McLendon (2-for-5, HR, RBI), Ferguson (2-for-3, 2B, RBI), and Pearcey (2-for-4) leading that effort.
Georgia collected 19 hits throughout the contests, including four home runs. Tate finished the day 5-for-5 at the plate with five RBI while Blaylock was 2-for-4 with two home runs and six RBI.
Casey Young (0-2) took the loss for GWU, allowing four runs on five hits with two strikeouts in 2.2 innings of work in the start.

Liam Sullivan (1-0) earned the win for Georgia, working two scoreless frames with five strikeouts. Starter Jaden Woods lasted four innings, giving up two runs on three base hits with three strikeouts.
Gardner-Webb returns to action Friday, March 5, opening Big South Conference play at Campbell. First pitch is set for 5:00 pm in Buies Creek, N.C.
