Runnin’ Bulldogs Earn 3-1 Victory over Campbell Friday Evening

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb had three players with double-digit kills and hit at a season-best .188 percentage to earn a four-set win over visiting Campbell in Big South Conference volleyball action Friday evening inside Paul Porter Arena.
Gardner-Webb (3-9, 3-9 Big South) took the first two sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-23. Campbell (7-3, 7-3 Big South) claimed the third set, 27-25, before the Runnin' Bulldogs bounced back to take the fourth set, 25-22, and the overall match win.
GWU posted one of its most efficient nights of the season, collecting 55 kills on 154 attempts for a .188 hitting percentage, its highest rate of the year. The Camels totaled 56 smashes on 163 swings, attacking at a .166 clip.
The 'Dogs also collected a season-best 10 service aces, compared to just three by Campbell.
Audrey Gun paced the Gardner-Webb attack with a season-best 15 kills on 45 attacks, hitting at a .133 rate. Hannah Donaldson followed with 11 kills, her season high, on 18 attempts for a .389 hitting percentage. Kylee Garrison followed with 10 smashes on 25 swings for a season-best .320 hitting percentage.
Lauryn Rocassin dished out a team-high 25 assists on the evening, followed by Tori Weatherley with 17 helps.
Sophia Bolden led the Runnin' Bulldogs with 20 digs, with Micah McIntosh following with 14 digs.
Donaldson and Alexandria Roycraft each had six total blocks to lead that effort.
Campbell was led on the attack by Lailah Green with 13 kills on 30 swings for a .053 hitting percentage. Chloe Cook added 11 kills on 32 attempts for the Camels.
Madee Miner provided a match-high 29 assists on the evening, while Emily Mitter followed with 21 assists.
Elyse Gross led the Camels with 16 digs, while Melody Paige had four total blocks to lead Campbell at the net.
Gardner-Webb has a bye-week before returning to action on Thursday, March 26, hosting Charleston Southern in the first match of a two-match Big South Conference series. First serve is slated for 6:00 pm from Paul Porter Arena.
