Gardner-Webb Men’s Soccer Ranks 4th in 2021 Big South Preseason Poll

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Gardner-Webb Men's Soccer was picked to finish fourth in the 2021Big South Preseason poll, which is voted on by the conferences head coaches.
The Runnin' Bulldogs earned a total of 45 points, the highest vote received was a duo of third place votes.
In this season's poll High Point (80 points, eight first-place votes) was selected as the preseason favorite. The only other teams to receive more than 50 points were USC Upstate (53 points), and Campbell (73 points, one first-place vote).
This year, the gap between the Dogs' and the remainder of the conference was slim. As UNC Asheville (42 points), Presbyterian (41 points), Radford (32 points), Longwood (24 points), and Winthrop (15 points) were selected fifth through ninth to round of the poll standings.
Gardner-Webb Men's Soccer is set to open their season in Macon, Ga. against SoCon opponent Mercer on Thursday, August 26th.
The 2021 Big South men's soccer season begins Thursday, Aug. 26, while the first Conference match is Friday, Sept. 24. The 2021 Big South Men's Soccer Championship tournament is slated for Nov. 7-14 and will be contested at the home sites of the highest seeds throughout. The six-team postseason event will open with two quarterfinal matches on Nov. 7, followed by the Semifinals (Nov. 10) and Finals (Nov. 14), with the champion receiving the Big South's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
