FARMVILLE, Va. - Gardner-Webb women's basketball dropped their second Big South contest of the season, falling to Longwood University on Saturday afternoon with a final score of 86-75.
Gardner-Webb (7-11,5-2) shot 39.7% (27-for-68) from the floor, 26.9% (7-for-26) from beyond the arc, and 93.3% (14-for-15) from the free-throw line. The Runnin' Bulldogs scored 30 points in the paint, 28 points off of turnovers, and 19 points off of the bench.
Longwood (8-10, 5-2) shot 52.7% (29-for-55) in field-goal range, 52.9% (9-for-17) from the three-point line, and 82.6% (19-for-23) at the free-throw line. The Lancers scored 32 points in the paint, 25 points off of turnovers, and 16 points off of the bench.
Today's contest was the third game this season in which five 'Dogs scored in double figures. Lauren Bevis led the pack with 21 points (7-15 FG, 3-11 3PT, 3-3 FT), followed by Alasia Smith with 13 points (4-11 FG, 1-3 3PT, 4-4 FT), Ki'Ari Cain recorded just one less (3-15 FG, 0-4 3PT, 6-7 FT), and Freshman Laken Cox put up 10 points (5-11 FG, 0-1 3PT) off of the bench.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will be back in action on Tuesday, January 25, as they continue their road tilt at USC Upstate. The 6 p.m. tip will stream live on ESPN+ and over the airwaves of the Runnin' Bulldogs Sports Network.
