Bailey Fisher Picks Up Two National Weekly Award Honorable Mentions Monday

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Gardner-Webb's Bailey Fisher was an honorable mention choice for a pair of national FCS weekly honors for the second time this season following his most efficient effort to date.
The 5-foot-11, 207-pound redshirt senior was named honorable mention FCS Performer of the Week by College Football Performane Awards (CFPA) and was an honorable mention FedEx Ground FCS National Offensive Player of the Week by Stats Perform.
Fisher (Clayton, Ga. / Rabun County HS) was electric in Gardner-Webb's 48-40 win over Bryant, tying a Big South record with six touchdowns accounted for and finishing with a razor sharp 23-of-28 effort for 356 yards and five touchdowns through the air. He scrambled for 28 yards on the ground and a score as Gardner-Webb moved to 3-0 in Big South play for the first time since 2003.
Fisher connected on 10 consecutive passes during a decisive stretch in the first half and was 18-for-20 at one point in the game for 343 yards and four touchdowns as Gardner-Webb built a comfortable lead. He saw 14 of his first 20 passes go for first downs and averaged a strong 15.5 yards per completion for the game.
The game was Fisher's third with at least 350 yards passing this season and marked his sixth game of the season with at least two touchdowns accounted for. He has now passed for 9,211 yards in his career and topped the 10,000-yard mark for career total offense on Saturday (10,303).
Fisher's six total touchdowns tied former Coastal Carolina quarterback Zach MacDowall's performance (five passing, one rushing) vs. Charleston Southern iin 2010.
Campbell's Wiley Hartley also accounted for six scores in a non-conference win last season over Presbyterian and Gardner-Webb's Nick Roberts passed for five and scored once on the ground in a 2004 non-conference win over Morgan State.
Fisher is 175-of-275 so far this season for 2,233 yards and 14 touchdowns for Gardner-Webb (4-5, 3-0 Big South). The Runnin' Bulldogs have won three of their last four games, with the lone loss coming to current FBS #23 Liberty by a single point (21-20). Fisher has also run for a team-high seven touchdowns and ranks No. 17 nationally in points responsible for and No. 13 nationally in passing yards.
Fisher is currenty ranked in the top-10 among Football Championship Subdivision active career leaders in attempts (4th), completions (4th), yardage (5th), touchdown passes (6th), touchdown responsibility (3rd), total plays (3rd), total offense (3rd) and total yards among quarterbacks with at least 4,000 yards passing and 1,000 yards rushing (2nd).
The Runnin' Bulldogs head into a well-deserved open date this weekend before closing the regular season with two important games. Gardner-Webb travels to Buies Creek, N.C., on November 12 to battle Campbell in the second annual North Carolina East/West BBQ Bowl (1:00 pm kickoff) and hosts North Carolina A&T on November 19 in Spangler Stadium (Noon kickoff).
