
Hornaday Named Freshman of the Week for Fourth Time on Monday Afternoon

CHARLOTTE – The Big South Conference announced the winners of their weekly awards. The league selected Gardner-Webb's Morgan Hornaday (Greenfield, Ind.) as the Freshman of the Week, her fourth time winning the award this season.
Hornaday collected 73 assists (12.17 per set) and 16 digs (2.67 per set) between the Runnin' Bulldogs' pair of sweeps during the week. Thursday's win at UNC Asheville saw her post the 6th double-double of the season with 10 digs and a new career-high in a three-set match for assists with 36. On Saturday she broke her new record in assists in a three-set match, finishing with 37 in the 3-0-win hosting USC Upstate.
This marked Hornaday's fourth time being selected as the conference freshman of the week. Hornaday is the first player from Gardner-Webb to earn this honor at least fourth times in a season since Laura Wilcox in 2008.
The Runnin' Bulldogs return to the court this weekend playing a pair of games in Paul Porter Arena to wrap up their home schedule. GWU welcomes Presbyterian on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and Winthrop on Saturday with a first serve at 2:00 p.m. The regular season comes to close the following weekend Friday, November 11 at High Point and Saturday, November 12 at Radford. The Big South Conference Tournament will be held on November 19-20 at High Point with the top four teams in the conference standings advancing to the tournament.
