BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - Gardner-Webb softball took the field at Brinkley Softball Stadium for day two of the Runnin' Bulldog Classic, ultimately dropping both matchups to Colgate and Rhode Island on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
 
Game One: Colgate 2, Gardner-Webb 0
Taking the loss for GWU, Rhea Barger allowed scoring runs in the second and fourth innings while Colgate was at-bat. Barger pitched 4.1 innings, allowing five hits, two runs, and four walks while facing 15 total batters. Sydney Gilbert came in and pitched 2.2 innings, only allowing one hit in nine at-bats. 
 
Game Two: Rhode Island 2, Gardner-Webb 1
URI scored both of its runs early in the second inning to take a 2-0 lead over GWU. The Runnin' Bulldogs tried to counter back in the fifth inning, as Abbey Goodrum hit a sacrifice fly ball to right field that allowed Riley McCurry to make it a 2-1 ballgame. Pitching the full game, Andrea Lyon took the loss, allowing four hits and two runs from the circle. Lyon only walked one batter and threw eight strikeouts in the nightcap.
