LEXINGTON, Va. – Gardner-Webb wrapped up competition at the VMI Indoor Classic on Saturday afternoon in Lexington, Virginia.
In the men's 200-meter dash,
Chase Thornhill placed fifth with a time of 21.92 seconds at the finish. Sean Amour (22.71) and
James Hinton (23.18) both threw down personal bests in the event.
As for the women's 200-meter dash,
Amira Austin ran a personal best time of 26.89 seconds.
Chase Thornhill placed first in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 48.11 seconds at the finish.
Brianna Payne (59.39) and Kendal Reece (1:06.06) both locked in personal bests in the women's 400-meter dash.
In the men's 500-meter dash,
Joe Waller placed tenth with a time of 1:09.20, which is a new top seven program record.
Teryn Bour locked in a new top ten program record in the women's 500-meter with a time of 1:24.11.
As for the men's 1,000-meter run,
Ryan Morita placed second overall with a time of 2:32.18. Morita's time qualified for a new top-two program record in the event. Ethan Bently's time of 2:40.28 is also a new top six program record.
Amy Prugh placed fifth in the women's one-mile run. Prugh's time of 5:13.52 qualifies as a new top three program record.
Ryan McGuffin placed first in the men's long jump by hitting a mark of 7.31 meters, which is good for a new all-time program record.
In the men's shot put,
Julian Smallwood finished third for GWU by hitting a mark of 16.53 meters.
As for the women's shot put,
Jaden Finch placed first by hitting a mark of 13.78 and
Karmen Taylor placed fifth by hitting a mark of 12.56 meters.
In the women's weight throw,
Jaden Finch placed third by hitting a mark of 16.38 meters,
Karmen Taylor placed fifth by hitting a mark of 15.48 meters, and
Taliyah Wade placed eighth by hitting a mark of 14.59 meters.
Gardner-Webb will be back in action on Thursday, February 24 for the Big South Indoor Track and Field Championship at the JDL Track in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
