Winston-Salem, N.C. – Gardner-Webb wrapped up the final day of the 2022 Big South Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at the JDL indoor track.
In the women's weight throw,
Jaden Finch placed third for GWU by hitting a mark of 16.62 meter. Finch's mark of 16.62 qualifies as anew personal best.
Karmen Taylor placed sixth in the event with a new personal best of 16.28 meters. Both Finch's and Taylor's times qualify on the top-ten all-time program record list.
Chase Thornhill placed second in the men's 400-meter dash by clocking in a time of 47.98 seconds.
In the men's high jump, Cameron Donoghue placed eighth overall by hitting a mark of 1.86 meters.
As for the women's 3,000-meter run,
Amy Prugh placed eight with a time of 10:13.23 at the finish line. Prugh's time marks a new personal best and resets her top-two program mark.
Ryan Morita (9:08.46) and Ethan Bently (9:38.13) each put up new personal bests in the men's 3,000-meter run.
In the women's 4x400-meter relay, the squad of
Amira Austin,
Brianna Payne,
Hannah Mitchell, and
Alena Ivanov placed eighth with a time of 4:03.66 at the finish.
As for the men's 4x400-meter relay, the squad of
James Hinton, Sean Amour,
Patrick Sastre,
Chase Thornhill placed fifth with a time of 3:19.84. Tonight's showing was a new top-three all-time program record.
Cameron Donoghue claimed gold in the men's heptathlon. Donoghue ran a time of 7.40 seconds in the 60-meter dash, hit a mark of 6.16 meters in the long jump, hit a mark of 12.05 meters in the shot put, hit a mark of 1.96 meter in the high jump, ran a time of 8.77 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, hit a mark of 3.85 meters in the pole vault, and ran a time of 2:50.15 in the 1,000-meter run. Donoghue's point total of 4,879 points also qualifies as a new school record.
At the conclusion of the championship,
Chase Thornhill was named to the Men's All-Academic Team and
Faith Parandhamaia was named to the Women's All-Academic team.
