Gardner-Webb Football Announces 2022 Schedule, Season Tickets Now On Sale

BOILING SPRINGS – Gardner-Webb announced its 2022 football schedule on Wednesday afternoon, an 11-game slate that begins on September 3 at 6:00 pm in Ernest W. Spangler Stadium.

The Runnin' Bulldogs will have a four-game home slate, beginning with the season opener vs. Limestone. Gardner-Webb will also host Mercer (Sept. 24), Bryant (Oct. 29) and North Carolina A&T (Nov. 19).

"We are excited for the challenge and opportunity to watch our program grow in 2022," said head coach Tre Lamb. "This is our first full offseason as a staff and team. We have a good football team coming back and these young men have bought into how we operate. The standards are the standards and we look forward to putting that on display against these opponents this fall."

A heavy road schedule begins on September 10 at Sun Belt member Coastal Carolina. The Chanticleers are the first of three FBS opponents for Gardner-Webb, followed by trips to Marshall (Oct. 1) and Liberty (Oct. 15).

Big South Conference play begins on October 8, with the Runnin' Bulldogs making their first trip to play Robert Morris in Moon Township, Pa. Gardner-Webb will also play road Big South games at Charleston Southern (Oct. 22) and at Campbell (Nov. 12) in the second annual North Carolina East/West BBQ Bowl.

Gardner-Webb has faced each of its opponents at least once with the exception of Mercer and Big South newcomer Bryant. The Runnin' Bulldogs squared off with current FBS foes Coastal Carolina and Liberty several times when those programs were members of the Big South Conference. GWU last faced the Chanticleers in 2016 and hasn't played Liberty since the 2017 season.

All posted kickoff times are subject to change. Season ticket renewals and sales are available now at GWUSports.com.
