The Gardner-Webb bats were piping hot in the first inning, as a 2RBI homer belted by Andrea Lyon and a 2RBI Double my Molly Montgomery put the 'Dogs up 5-0. USC Upstate tried to equilze later on in the sixth and seventh but came up just a single run short, allowing the 'Dogs to clinch the series victory.
