Gardner-Webb Earns #5 Seed for Upcoming Big South Tournament

CHARLOTTE – The Big South Conference announced the seedings for its upcoming Women's Lacrosse Championship, naming Gardner-Webb the #5 seed. For the first round, the 'Dogs will travel to #4 Campbell on Saturday with a first draw scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
High Point won the regular season title with an 8-1 mark in the regular season. Following them was #2 Mercer also at 8-1. Furman finished in third and Campbell came in at the fourth, each with 7-2 records in the Big South. Gardner-Webb finished conference play with a 5-3 record for the fifth position. Rounding out the field will be Winthrop as the #6 seed.
This season has been the best year in conference history, setting new highs in season wins (9) and conference wins (5). This is the team's third overall appearance in the event and is the first time GWU has made the conference's tournament since 2016.
The winner between the Gardner-Webb and #4 Campbell matchup will face the top-seeded High Point Panthers in the next round of the event. The semifinals and finals for the Big South championship will be held at High Point University. The semifinals will be on Friday, May 6 at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and the finals on Sunday, May 8 at 1:00 p.m.
