Pesqueira and McCurry Earn All-Big South Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Gardner-Webb softball had two players receive awards from the Big South Conference at the conclusion of the 2022 season, as announced Tuesday.
Araceli Pesqueira was named the Second Team and Riley McCurry was selected to the All-Academic Team.
Pesqueira has led the Runnin' Bulldogs at the plate this year with a batting average of .349 (45-for-129), 12 of those hits were doubles, with just one triple. The Junior from Laveen, Arizona scored a total of 13 runs this season and 14 RBI. Throughout the season Pesqueira collected 59 total bases, with a slug % of .457 and an on base % of .444. She has started all 44 games this season at third base, recording 53 put-outs, 76 assists, and .942 fielding %. Earned player of the week honors once this season.
McCurry has upheld an impressive 3.89 GPA in Biology during her time with Gardner-Webb. This season she has started 37 while appearing in 42 total games. She holds the fourth highest batting average on the team (.212), and has accounted for six RBI's and three doubles, while collecting 24 total bases.
