Duo Of Dawgs Earn Silver On Day Two Of Big South Championship

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Gardner-Webb track and field competed in day two of the 2022 Big South Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Tuesday afternoon, locking in two big podium finishes.
In the men's 400-meter run prelims, Chase Thornhill (4th, 47.09) and Sean Amour (8th, 48.67) both qualified to move onto the finals in the event.
As for the prelims of the women's 100-meter run, Sarianna Miranda-Rosado ran a personal best time of 12.50 seconds.
In the men's 800-meter run prelims, Patrick Sastre qualified for finals with a time of 1:53.77 at the finish.
Taylor Robinson placed eighth overall in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:05.53 at the finish. Robinson's time is a personal best and top-seven all-time program record.
As for the men's shotput, Nate Wonsley placed eighth with a season best mark of 15.05 meters.
In the women's pole vault, Saylor Abbott (3.44 meters) placed seventh, and Louise Schmidten and Sophia Smith (3.14 meters) followed in a tie eighth place.
Khalilah Conway earned herself a second-place finish in the heptathlon, rounding out day two by finishing sixth in the long jump (4.52 meters), and fourth in the javelin (26.41 meters) and 800-meter run (2:27.69).
Cameron Donoghue took second in the decathlon, finishing up day two by placing first in the 110-meter hurdles (15.68 meters), second in the discus (38.50 meters), third in the pole vault (3.55 meters), fourth in the javelin (52.23 meters) , and first in the 1,500-meter (4:36.61). Donoghue's point total of 6,577 is a new program record in the event, knocking down the previous record that has stood since 2009.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will be back in action tomorrow, for the final day of the 2022 Big South Outdoor Track and Field Championship.
