
Gardner-Webb Lacrosse, 5 Runnin’ Bulldogs Honored By IWLCA For Academic Excellence

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – Gardner-Webb lacrosse was one of 295 schools across Division I, II, III, and NAIA to be named an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad, and five members of the Runnin' Bulldogs were named to the Division I Academic Honor Roll, it was announced Monday.
Gardner-Webb posted a team GPA of 3.54 for the 2021-2022 academic year to earn the prestigious honor squad distinction. To qualify, a women's lacrosse team must have posted a 3.2 or higher team GPA for the academic year.
Grace Briggs (Business Management), Lauren Deaver (Exercise Science), Eilish Gately (Master of Business Administration), Maddie Martin (Sport Management/Psychology) and Jada Preston (Psychology/Sociology) all also earned a spot on the IWLCA Honor Roll.
To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. In total, IWLCA honored 870 student-athletes from 94 different institutions on the 2022 IWLCA Division I Academic Honor Roll.
The Runnin' Bulldogs put together their most successful season in program history in 2022, tallying a 10-9 record and advancing to the semifinals of the Big South Championship after downing No. 4 Campbell in dramatic fashion in the quarterfinal round, 15-14.
