BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb University men's soccer team dropped their midweek non-conference match against East Tennessee State University by a final of 1-0 on Tuesday night.
Miki Fujita and
Noah Upchurch made their first career starts for the Runnin' Bulldogs.
"We had
Noah Upchurch and
Miki Fujita make their first starts," said coach Wells. "We added a couple of other players that were on the bench. To be honest with you that was the proudest of been this season. They came off a really good result and they've played some top tough teams, and performed really, really well. I thought we out performed them for 90 minutes tonight. Unfortunately, we slip off on the details. The idea of a complete performance is literally from the first whistle to the last whistle, and we slipped off for 30 seconds and they got the goal that they needed. They defended very well. I was very, very happy with our performance especially in possession."
Gabriel Ramos scored the lone goal of the match in 10
th minute for ETSU.
Breno Correia tallied a shot on goal for GWU. Gardner-Webb held possession for 57% of the match.
The Runnin' Bulldogs return to Big South play on Saturday, Oct. 14 when they host High Point University at 7:30 p.m. Saturday's match will not be live streamed. Live stats will be available on GWUSports.com.
