RADFORD, VA – The Gardner-Webb University men's soccer bested the Highlanders of Radford University on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 3-0. A trio of Runnin' Bulldogs tallied goals for in the shutout victory.
"A long time coming.", said coach Wells. "Being completely honest, we played no different than we have been playing for the duration of the conference. The difference today was the details in the boxes as we've discussed all season. We defended extremely well. We put blocks in and won everything in the air, and we were able to be extremely clinical in our execution in the final third. That's part of the process. That's part of the building of this program and my identity is repetition basically. Repetition of how we want to play and time is showing that these guys can do it. I'm really happy."
Gardner-Webb a applied the pressure early as senior defender
Odal Brown netted his first goal of the year in the third minute of the contest.
Santiago Hoyos picked up the assist. The 'Dawgs took their one goal lead into halftime prior to extending it in the second half as
Pablo Brimeux scored unassisted in the 64
th minute.
Jaylen Orr capped off the scoring for GWU in the 76
th minute. He was assisted by Brimeux and
Mathieu Ecourtemer. Brimeux and Orr now each have four goals on the year. Junior goalkeeper
Pat Millard picked up his second clean sheet of the year.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will complete their regular season on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at home against Longwood. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m., and Senior Day recognitions will take place prior to the game.
