BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb University men's soccer team earned another Big South point on Friday night playing UNC Asheville to a 2-2 draw.
Leo Andrade and
Santiago Hoyos scored the pair of the goals for the Runnin' Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs of UNC Asheville opened the scoring as Sergio Baguena put the ball in the back of the net in the 12
th minute. Gardner-Webb answered in the 30
th minute as
Leo Andrade scored his second goal of the season on the left side to make the match 1-1.
Breno Correia and
Kaelan Debbage earned assists on the play. GWU drew a foul in the 61
st minute that resulted in a penalty shot for
Santiago Hoyos. The sophomore got it past UNC Asheville goalkeeper Charlie Farrar on the left side to give Gardner-Webb the lead. Brendan Herb tallied the equalizer in the 77
th minute to even the match for UNC Asheville. The game ended with each side at two goals each. Hoyos tallied his third goal of the season for GWU. He and
Jaylen Orr lead the squad with three each.
The Runnin' Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 10 when they host East Tennessee State University at 6:00 p.m.
