
Jenna Otts Earns Big South Freshman of the Week Honors

The first-year outside hitter continues her impressive campaign for GWU
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Saint Johns, Florida native helped Gardner-Webb collect a 1-1 record last week including an incredible performance against Charleston Southern University, as Jenna Otts has been named Big South Conference Freshman of the Week for the first time this season, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
Otts, combined for 35 kills (5.00 per set) with a .388 hitting percentage in seven sets total over two matches on the road. She recorded double-digit kills in both performances last week with 15 against Presbyterian College and 20 against Charleston Southern University. Her 20 kills against CSU are the most in a three-set match this season throughout the Big South.
Otts helped produce 16.5 points against Presbyterian and 21 against Charleston Southern, averaging 5.36 per set last week. The 21 points versus the Bucs are also the most points in a three-set match this season in the conference. Otts achieved team-high kills in the two games as well. On the defensive side, she picked up four total blocks (one solo) with two in each match.
In the Big South, Otts is second in total kills this season with 212 and 3.42 per set and also remains second in total points with 227.0 and 3.66 per set.
The Runnin' Bulldogs return to the dog house to host two matches beginning with UNC Asheville on Friday, Oct. 13 at 6:00 p.m. and concluding with USC Upstate on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 4:00 p.m.
