‘Dawgs land two setters for next year’s squad
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb volleyball head coach Eric Plunkett announced the signing of two newcomers for the 2024 season on Thursday night.
The latest additions for Gardner-Webb are two setters both freshmen, further supporting the Runnin' Bulldog roster to help build on the success of this season.
Gardner-Webb is currently ranked 3rd in the conference standings and going to the Big South Tournament Semifinals for the first time in program history.
Olivia Lefebvre – 5'6' – S/DS – Lake Norman High School (Mooresville, N.C.)
Coach Plunkett: "We are so excited to add Olivia to our program. First thing we fell in love with in Olivia is her grittiness and competitive spirit. She is willing to do whatever it takes to help her team win. Those type of players are crucial to a team's success. In addition to her intangibles Olivia is a great setter and locates extremely well with a great tempo. She also plays great defense and is an impact server which will be huge values to this program moving forward."
Jessica Horn – 5'10' – S – Joliet Catholic Academy (Plainfield, Ill.)
Coach Plunkett: "Jessica's impact on the game goes well beyond her skills as a setter. Jessica is a great leader; she commands the offense at a high level and understands the interpersonal relationships that it takes to be successful. Jessica's location and consistency are her best attributes as a setter and repeatably puts her attackers in the best situation possible. She understands the game and how to attack a defense. Her competitiveness and high standard of training are going to be huge additions to an already high-level gym."
Gardner-Webb hits the road for its final matchup of the regular season on Saturday, November 9 against Winthrop University at 2:00 p.m.
