DURHAM, N.C. – #11 Duke defeated Gardner-Webb on Sunday afternoon in the third all-time meeting between the programs. The final score of the game was 24-1.
The Blue Devils got the opening draw and scored quickly on the possession for the early lead. The Runnin' Bulldogs stood tall on the following opponent possession and
Emma Duchscherer tallied a goal to draw it even. Duke went on hold GWU scoreless for the rest of the first half as their offense started rolling.
The Runnin' Bulldogs had their goalies each play a half
Danielle Burke making four in the opening frame. Freshman
Lauren Cretella also made four saves in her thirty minutes of work in the second half.
Four different GWU players caused a turnover during the action with them being
Heather Lobas,
Brittany Sherrod,
Lauren Connor, and
Kyla Pascucci. Pascucci and
Mackenzie Gallery each scooped a pair of groundballs while Lobas and Sherrod had one apiece.
Gardner-Webb will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Clemson for a 4:00 p.m. matchup.
