Foley, Briggs Record Career Days in 15-10 Loss to Queens on Wednesday

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Queens defeated Gardner-Webb 15-10 on Wednesday afternoon behind a strong third quarter from the Royals.

Queens opened the scoring for the day, but GWU's Brittany Sherrod and Bria Foley tallied a pair for an early lead. After Queens took the lead again, and GWU tied it at 4-4, the Royals took the lead for good at the 12:08 mark in the second quarter. The teams traded goals before the half with Queens leading 7-6.

During the third quarter, Queens used a 5-1 scoring margin to stretch out their edge to as many as five. They played even in the fourth quarter with both squads scoring three.

Foley led the team in goals with a three with Jada Preston and Lauren Connor adding two apiece. Aimie Perino, Emma Duchscherer, and Sherrod each had one. Foley also dished an assist to finish the day with four points to tie a career-high and marked the second time in her career to register that many.

GWU finished a slight edge in the draw circle as they won it 15-14. Foley tied her career high in draws with seven while Duchscherer finished with six, the most for her in her freshman season. Heather Lobas and Sherrod each had one as well.

On the defensive end, Grace Briggs served as a force as she tied career highs in groundballs with four and caused turnovers with five, both led all players. Danielle Burke, Reese Jones, and Foley each picked up a CT during the action. In groundballs, Burke had three with Jones and Perino each having two.

Burke played all 60 minutes between the pipes for the 'Dogs as she collected eight saves during the afternoon.
