
Gardner-Webb Duo Ready For 2023 Wrestling Championships Thursday In Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. – Gardner-Webb wrestlers RJ Mosley and Jha'Quan Anderson will begin their quest for a title on the sport's biggest collegiate stage Thursday at the 2023 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.
The first round begins with Session One at 11:00 am on ESPNU, with action on eight mats. The second session will begin at 6:00 pm on Thursday, with second round and consolation matches underway after the break on ESPN.
Mosley enters Thursday's action as the No. 24 seed and will battle Stanford's Shane Griffith (20-3) in the 93rd bout of the morning. Mat assignments will be posted on Thursday.
The Oklahoma City, Okla., native is wrestling his final NCAA tournament just 90 minutes from his hometown and enters the event with a 27-5 overall record. Mosley is the first Gardner-Webb wrestler to win back-to-back Southern Conference individual titles and is a three-time NCAA qualifier.
Mosley has a pair of wins this season against other wrestlers in his bracket, beating No. 25 Bubba Wilson (Nebraska) and splitting a beating Appalachian State's Will Formato for the SoCon title earlier this month.
Anderson will be up early on Thursday, wrestling in the 184-pound pigtail match as the No. 32 seed against No. 33 seed Anthony Carman (17-13) of West Virginia.
Anderson, who is wrestling in his second NCAA Championships, is 25-14 on the season and finished second at the 2023 SoCon Championships. He earned his second at-large bid to national tournament.
The Conyers, Ga., native has one recent win over other wrestlers in the bracket this season, beating Chattanooga's Matthew Waddell in the SoCon semifinals.
