BOONE, N.C. – Gardner-Webb had four wrestlers finish inside of the top three in their weight classes in the Southern Conference Championships on Saturday. R.J. Rosley defended his title from last season as he won the bracket at 165. As a team, the Runnin' Bulldogs finished in fourth place collecting 42.5 points.
R.J. Mosley was seeded at #2 for 165 and picked up a 11-3 major decision in his opening match and won 4-1 in the semifinals to move onto the evening's final. Mosley become the back-to-back champion of the class as he won by 3-1 decision of Appalachian State's Will Formato, the top seed in the bracket.
Mosley is a now a three-time NCAA qualifier and the first Gardner-Webb wrestler to ever win back-to-back Southern Conference titles. He is the first GWU wrestler to win a pair of SoCon individual titles since Tyler Marinelli in 2017 and 2019.

Zach Price at 141 entered as the No. 2 seed and advanced to the finals after a 12-4 major decision in first bout and an 8-1 in the semifinals. In the finals, Price fell to Shannon Hanna in triple OT 6-3 to finish as the conference's runner up.
Jha'Quan Anderson moved onto the finals of the 184-weight class with a pair of decisions. Anderson won his opening round 4-1 over Zach Brown of VMI followed by 3-2 over Matthew Waddell of Chattanooga in the semifinals. Anderson fell in the finals to Campbell's Caleb Hopkins 4-0 to finish as the runner-up at 184.
Drew West got the win in his opening decision 2-1 against Blair Orr of The Citadel and after dropped his following on the top-seeded wrestler at 125. West went on to win both of his consolation matches and win the third-place match by a 9-5 decision over Orr for the second time of the day.
Todd Carter won his first bout at 133, but fell in the following match to the top seed. He won a consolation match by a 14-2 major decision over Jacob Brasseur of Presbyterian. He finished fourth overall in the bracket as he lost in the third-place match.
Sam Mora lost in his first round matchup, but recovered in the consolation round for a win. He knocked off Gavin Henry of Davidson with an 8-2 decision before losing in his following match.
The NCAA Championships will be held in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the BOK Center from March 16-18. The field will be announced on Wednesday, March 8 on the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships Selection Show.
