Kotsovolos Secures Back-to-Back Libero of the Week Honors

The Tampa, Florida native continues her impressive sophomore campaign
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After helping Gardner-Webb volleyball to a 2-1 record at the Chattanooga Classic, Gardner-Webb's Sophia Kotsovolos has been named Big South Libero of the Week for the second week in a row, the league office announced on Monday afternoon. She is the first Runnin' Bulldog since Anna Pashkova in 2013 to achieve back-to-back defensive player of the week honors. This is the second time she has earned the award this season and in her career at GWU.
Kotsovolos combined for 59 digs (4.92 per set), 16 assists, and four service aces in three matches. She recorded double-digit digs in her last two performances of the tournament with 25 against Eastern Michigan University and 26 against the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Kotsovolos also achieved game-high digs in the final two games of the tournament. Her 26 digs versus Chattanooga were the most digs in a five-set match by anyone in the Big South this season.
Gardner-Webb hits the road for its final non-conference regular season matchup on Tuesday, September 19 against Queens University of Charlotte at 7:00 p.m.
