SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Gardner-Webb University baseball team opened Big South play on Friday evening against the University of South Carolina Upstate Spartans falling 4-0. The Runnin' Bulldogs tallied six hits ultimately dropping the series opener.
The game was a pitchers dual sailing along until the bottom of the sixth inning as the Spartans strung together a pair of singles and a double to go up 3-0 on GWU. Upstate added one more insurance run on a wild pitch in the eighth inning. Blake Brogdan went 5.2 innings for the 'Dawgs recording three K's.
