BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb University baseball team dropped their second game of a three-game series with Winthrop University on Saturday by a final score of 3-2.
The Runnin' Bulldogs got on the board first with
Humberto Torres singling to score
Wade Kelly in the bottom of the first. Winthrop tied the game on a solo homerun to leftfield in the second frame. The Eagles launched another in the fifth inning to take a 3-1 lead. GWU was able to get one back as
Alec Burns made it home on a wild pitch in the sixth inning. From there the Eagles pitching staff kept the score 3-2 until the final out.
Gardner-Webb will conclude their three-game series with Winthrop on Sunday, March 24 at 1:00 p.m.
