Gardner-Webb Track & Field Places Third at Kennesaw State Invitational

Runnin' Bulldogs Sophomore Quentin Peterson captures Men’s Discuss Throw & Men's Shot Put
KENNESAW, Ga. – The Gardner-Webb track and field teams completed competition at the Kennesaw State Invitational on Friday (3/29).
The men and women combined 93.5 points was good for a third-place finish behind first-place Kennesaw State (376 points) and second place Life University (95 points) of Marietta, Georgia).
Among the highlights of the men's competition for Gardner-Webb was the performance of sophomore Quentin Peterson, who turned in two gold-medal-winning performances for the Dawgs.
Peterson paced the 28-man field with a gold medal and school-record setting performance in the Men's Discuss Throw. Peterson's toss of 53.23.m (174-07) is a new personal best.
In the Men's Shot Put, Peterson also took home a first-place medal with a toss of 16.00m (52-06.00).
The Dawgs super-soph added another medal to his personal collection as Peterson placed third in the Men's Hammer Throw with a 56.89m (186-07).
Freshman Jonathan Timpson also took to the medal podium for the Runnin' Bulldogs with a third-place finish (1.98m/6-06.00) in the Men's High Jump.
In the men's track events, sophomore TJ Peebles placed third for Gardner-Webb in the Men's 110m Hurdles with a time 15.00.
Peebles also had a personal-best 55.07 in the Men's 400 Meter Hurdles which was good for sixth place in the 18-man field.
In the women's track events, the Runnin' Bulldogs Women's 4X100 Relay Team of junior Deborah Marlow, junior Traci Cross, sophomore Jada Pittman, and freshman Anna Spencer finished in second place (48.79) to host Kennesaw State (46.10).
Spencer ran a person-best 24.59 in the Women's 200 Meter to finish fourth overall.
Sophomore Jessica Perriello (2:18.13) placed third in the Women's 800 Meter for the Dawgs.
Junior Isabela Castillo (1:06.85) finished fourth in the Women's 400 Meter Hurdles
In the Women's Hammer Throw, senior Karmen Taylor (48.62m/159-06) finished fifth for the Dawgs.
Women's Discus Throw, Gardner-Webb had three Top 5 finishes led by Zoie Johnson, who finished second with a 42.02m (137-10). Taylor followed Johnson in third place (41.07m/134-09) while Madison Boyd took fourth place (38.79m/127-03).
UP NEXT: Gardner-Webb will be in action next Saturday (4/6) at the Gamecock Invitational, hosted by the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C.
